Advanced Deaf Interpreting Processes

This one-day workshop for Deaf interpreters will have a brief update on the work of Deaf interpreters. Lectures and hands-on for a continuation of developing advanced skills in interpreting processes, simultaneous/consecutive interpreting modes, mirroring, sight translation, and ethical-making decision processes will be the primary topics of this workshop. Participants will have opportunities to work on consecutive, simultaneous, and mirror modes of  interpreting. Demonstrations and group activities will be designed to use "hands on" for skill application. Each group will be discuss on how the group proceeded through the activities to arrive at the decisions on the their work in the assigned interpreting modes. 

Participants will be able to:

  • Explain the processes of interpreting and requisite knowledge and skills
  • Apply fundamental skills in sight translation, consecutive, simultaneous, and mirror interpreting
  • Demonstrate enhanced development of processing skills. 

Dates: February 18, 2019

Location: Anchorage School District Site (specific room and building TBA)

- AKRID Member wanting CEUs: $40.00

- Non-member wanting CEUs: $65.00

Refund Policy:
There will be no penalty for cancellations received on or before Friday January 25, 2019. The full amount paid will be refunded. A cancellation fee of 50% of the registration costs will be applied for cancellations received after that time. No refund will be issued for cancellations received less than 10 days.
